Dance is one of the essential elements of Neo Tantra. But despite its name may seem to indicate it, this is not such a new fact. One of the principles of traditional Buddhist Tantra is to celebrate what is, both joys and sorrows. The founder of this branch of Tantra was named Saraha. The son of a learned Brahmin, he lived at the court of a king. After becoming a disciple of a Buddhist monk, he was initiated into Tantra by a blacksmith woman. They lived together in a cremation ground to celebrate Life. Dance, among other things, was part of their meditations.
Dancing has many virtues: going down into your body, activating and circulating the energy within you, being fully and physically present to what is so that you can express in movement what is going through you.
What are you feeling at the moment? Whether positive or negative, Tantra invites you to dance and let what is flow through you.
